Modern Day Psalm

For our current world, a psalm of C.M. Haverty.

 Lord,

in this paradise of Yes, we still seek the single tree of No.

Reconcile me to you oh Lord. Who are we to want you at convenient times?

We are wretched but we are your glory.

What is the cost of our eyes being open?

For our current world, a psalm of C.M. Haverty.

 Lord,

in this paradise of Yes, we still seek the single tree of No.

Reconcile me to you oh Lord. Who are we to want you at convenient times?

We are wretched but we are your glory.

What is the cost of our eyes being open?

Shame, yet truth.

Nakedness, yet the seeking to be clothed.

Death, yet redemption.

Still you want me oh Lord.

Who am I that your perfect mind is thinking of me?

Your unwarranted love has drowned me at the feet of the Cross.

When I have fallen, you have raised me and when I have left, you have sought me.

The people of this world have confused conviction with emotion.

Truth will prevail and Truth has a name. You are the only truth, Lord.

Fools have claimed domain over wisdom and their ideals without roots have become the idol of our time. They have demanded love but denied a creator. The creator who is the only reality, who is the very definition of love. Sin has overcome our earth with no remorse. They praise themselves rather than you Lord.

I will bow my head, and beat my chest with a tear-soaked fist to ask,

“Have mercy on me oh Lord, I am a sinner”.

Use me as a tool to do your work oh God.

Make me into a man after your own heart.

Guide my hands, heart, tongue, and mind,

That you might call me faithful and I may shine your light.

Help me trust you fully so that you can trust in me.

I will rejoice in the Lord only!

Selah

TWICE DEAD

TWO WOODEN POSTS

TWO WOODEN POSTS

Oh Lord, My Lord

The one you love is sick

Too late to make well

His life slipped to the abyss

Our hope was but lost

We made our paths in the night

Steps turned to a stumble

For there, we had no light

If you were there, oh Lord

He would not of died

He would have lived, she said

But you weren't by his side

But this happened for purpose

So that we might

But this happened for purpose

So that we might believe

Our lives bound to a darkness

Unless Him, we receive

Death won't be the end

His desire, to free us

To be like Lazarus of Bethany

Twice dead, friend of Jesus

In the peace, I am seeking

And the quiet, I find you

In the calm, I am needing

The Lord, my heart bind to

But the storm is my desire

And the earthquake is soothing

My temptation is the fire

Not the Lord, my heart pursuing

The ground where we are

To be both sinner and saint

Neither with a closed lid

But with two wooden posts

They meet at the center

And nailed to a cross

My Savior’s arms I will enter

TURNER'S CREED

An excerpt from Ravi Zacharias’ book “Can Man Live Without God?” Steve Turner says “No!”…But we try all the time….

We believe everything is OK as long as you don’t hurt anyone to the best of your definition of hurt, and to the best of your knowledge.

We believe in sex before, during, and after marriage

"We believe in Marx, Freud, and Darwin

We believe everything is OK as long as you don’t hurt anyone to the best of your definition of hurt, and to the best of your knowledge.

We believe in sex before, during, and after marriage.

We believe in the therapy of sin.

We believe that adultery is fun.

We believe that sodomy’s OK.

We believe that taboos are taboo.

We believe that everything’s getting better despite evidence to the contrary.

The evidence must be investigated

And you can prove anything with evidence.

We believe there’s something in horoscopes, UFO’s, and bent spoons.

Jesus was a good man just like Buddha, Mohammed, and ourselves.

He was a good moral teacher though we think His good morals were bad.

We believe that all religions are basically the same- at least the one that we read was.

They all believe in love and goodness.

They only differ on matters of creation, sin, heaven, hell, God, and salvation.

We believe that after death comes the Nothing

Because when you ask the dead what happens, they say nothing.

If death is not the end, if the dead have lied, then its compulsory heaven for all excepting perhaps

Hitler, Stalin, and Genghis Kahn

We believe in Masters and Johnson

What’s selected is average.

What’s average is normal.

What’s normal is good.

We believe in total disarmament.

We believe there are direct links between warfare and bloodshed.

Americans should beat their guns into tractors .

And the Russians would be sure to follow.

We believe that man is essentially good.

It’s only his behavior that lets him down.

This is the fault of society.

Society is the fault of conditions.

Conditions are the fault of society.

We believe that each man must find the truth that is right for him.

Reality will adapt accordingly.

The universe will readjust.

History will alter.

We believe that there is no absolute truth, excepting the truth that there is no absolute truth.

We believe in the rejection of creeds,

And the flowering of individual thought.

If chance be

the Father of all flesh,

disaster is his rainbow in the sky

and when you hear,

State of Emergency!

Sniper Kills Ten!

Troops on Rampage!

Whites go Looting!

Bomb Blasts School!

It is but the sound of man

worshiping his maker."
